2008-07-01 - 10:03 a.m. So to top off a long and rotten day, I got home last night to discover I again could not park in front of my own house. The neighbor’s grandkid was apparently having a pool party next door. No big deal, I’ll park in front of another neighbor’s house and piss them off too. No sense in me being the only one in a fowl mood. As usual I changed, grabbed a book and a beer and headed to the rear deck. Only difference was the loud and annoying sounds coming from the pool party next door. Are all, I guess, 13 or 14 year olds, high pitched? The girl’s screams were like nails on a blackboard. And the music. Look, I don’t care what they listen to, but the music really did suck. I don’t even know what to call it. Somewhere between white rap and some kind of rock. More synthesized than music. Boom, boom, boom, every cut was the same. Horrible tunes and the lyrics were awful. Listen to what to want, but please upscale the quality. To make it worse, the speakers were blown so the bass really was bad. I had to put up with that crap for two hours before they were finally shut down. Oh, the joys of being a teenager. Was I the same? Probably! Hot weather is here to stay for a while. High eighties all week with significant humidity. Yuk! Not so bad when I have shorts on for the weekend, but the workweek stinks. The office was in the low eighties yesterday and is at 80° right now. I can’t understand how the office A/C can be on and the place so hot. Can you imagine what it will be like in August when the real hot weather hits and the humidity approaches 100%? But it is a short week as we have Friday off to celebrate the 4th! Whoopee! BBQ here I come. Already have the steak marinating. Have to remember to get the chicken out of the freezer and pickup some hamburger and rolls. Maybe I’ll pick up some jumbo shrimps and grill them also. Too bad we don’t get a four-day weekend, but that’s OK, as I’ll settle for a single anytime.
